Each upholstered in associated aubusson tapestry coverings depicting Aessop's fables, with oval backs with chanelled rope-twist frames and acanthus crestings, part upholstered scrolled arms and bow-fronted seats on rosette capped turned and stop-fluted tapering legs, regilt (2)

Lot Essay

The acanthus spray to the front seat-rail of these chairs is similar in execution to a suite of fauteuils and a canapé signed by Heurtaut and sold by Mr. and Mrs. Franklin N. Groves, Christie's New York, 15 October 1988, lot 117.
