Born in Paris, where he made his apprenticeship, he moved to Lyon in 1743 and became a menuisier en sièges in the rue Saint-Romain. Graduating to maître-menuisier in June 1745 he later became maître-garde of his guild in Lyon. His work is predominately in the Louis XV style and focuses largely on chairs and canapés executed in walnut and often with well carved floral motifs, sometimes depicting different species of flowers as found on the following two lots.
