A PAIR OF VIENNA GREEN-GROUND ICE-PAILS, COVERS AND LINERS
Circa 1780, blue Bindenshield marks, both pails impressed L
Each of hemispheric form with bracket handles and raised on ball feet, the cover with flat rim and upright gallery centering a heart-shaped foliate-scroll handle, painted with bouquets and scattered flowers, the border with similar bouquets reserved within pink and yellow-gilt chain borders extending to edge the green ground band further reserved with scattered stars, the links edged in carmine along the lower edge to add depth, gilt line rims and handles

The present pair of ice-pails and the oblong dish in the following lot were acquired by Rosenberg & Stiebel from the estate of Clarisse de Rothschild, widow of Baron Alphonse.
