Lot Essay

The present pair is based on an archival example held by the Compagnie des Cristalleries de Baccarat, Paris. Its form and style is reminiscent of those produced between 1821-1840. See anon. sale, Sotheby's London, 4 October 1996, lot 225; and 3 October 1997, lot 74 for similar pairs.
