A VICTORIAN BRASS AND JASPERWARE-MOUNTED CALAMANDER LAP DESK
Circa 1875
The hinged domed lid and rectangular rest with applied etched scrolling foliate brass mounts and fitted with oval Jasperware plaques depicting Neoclassic vignettes and opening to reveal a purple velvet lined hinged writing surface below a compartment fitted with an inkwell stamped BERRY'S PATENT LONDON, a stamp box, miniature sander, and divided compartments, the top monogrammed M.E.B.
7in.(18cm.) high, 14in.(35.5cm.) wide, 10½in.(26.5cm.) deep
