A pair of 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter miniature table globes, the terrestrial NEWTON'S New & Improved TERRESTRIAL GLOBE Published by Newton & Son 66 Chancery Lane & 3 Fleet St, Temple Bar, made up of twelve coloured engraved gores, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans with the tracks of Cook, Biscoe and others, the Antarctic with Enderby's Land and Isles of Ice, the continents outlined in red and green and finely detailed with nation states in dotted outline, towns, cities, rivers and the Great Wall of China (rather darkened, some areas of varnish loss result in darkened paper); the celestial NEWTON'S Improved Pocket Celestial GLOBE made up of twelve lightly coloured engraved gores laid to the celestial poles, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the colures graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures and scientific instruments, with the stars to various orders of magnitude and all labelled in Latin (similar condition to the terrestrial) both with unengraved brass meridian half-circle, raised on a turned fruitwood column and circular plinth base -- 5¾in.
