A fine and unusual [?]late 19th-Century 10-inch diameter Islamic terrestrial globe
made up of twelve colour printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the prime meridian running through Istanbul and graduated in degrees, the ecliptic not shown, all text in Arabic, the oceans showing steam ship routes and ocean currents and very many notes, the continents with nation states variously and delicately shaded and showing towns and rivers (some abrasions and rubbing) with stamped brass meridian circle and horizon ring with Arabic numerals, raised on two cast iron quadrant suppports to an elegant tapering column and three inswept legs, united by three cross-stretchers supporting a small brass-cased glazed dry-card compass, the cardinal points labelled in Arabic, and with a jewelled cap and brass cover -- 25in. (6.5cm.) high
