Lot Essay

This English-published lamp globe is clearly based closely on the "Duo-Globe", a political/physical lamp globe, identically mounted, patented by the German Columbus-Verlag company in 1959. On the patented German version, when unlit the political details are visible, whilst the physical details are foregrounded on illuminating the lamp. The globe here offered has not been tested and therefore it is not possible to tell whether the design is followed on this example, although there is no indication when unlit that it is.
