Lot Essay

An identical cream jug by Bayly is in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Bayou Bend collection, illustrated in Barbara A. Almquist, "A Touch of Class - Silver in Social Settings," Philadelphia Antiques Show Catalogue, 1996, p.22. Almquist notes that the scalloping pattern of the rim is Bayly's unique design for cream jugs.
