A CORINTHIAN BLACK-FIGURED ARYBALLOS
Attributed to the Warrior Group, Circa 600 B.C.
The body with a finely painted band of six warriors in combat, each armed with a shield, spear and crested Corinthian helmet, the three to the left all moving right, the lead warrior, the only one clad in a chiton, with his head turned back towards his companions, the three to the right all moving left, with a bird, a bull's head and a panther as their shield devices, a lion facing right below the handle, with rosettes of various sizes filling all available space within the band, framed by dicing above and below, a rosette of alternating red and black petals above and on the base, the mouth and handle restored
