A GREEK TERRACOTTA ANTEFIX
Tarantine, Circa Mid 4th Century B.C.
The half-moon antefix molded with a facing head of a satyr, his locks brushed back from his forehead, his pointed ears angled down, with thick high-arching brows, a deep crease in the forehead, large button eyes with thick lids, a short up-turned nose, and a long wavy mustache which flows onto the short curling beard, his mouth open with the top row of teeth visible, traces of white and red pigment preserved throughout
