A CYPRIOT LIMESTONE HEAD OF A WOMAN
Circa Late 5th-Early 4th Century B.C.
The oval face with a pointed chin, her lips pursed into a slight smile, the large almond-shaped eyes lidded, with crisp, arching brows, the wavy hair center-parted at the forehead and projecting from under a tightly-fitted cap, with strands of hair emerging from the cap at the top of her head and falling down the back of the neck, crowned with a fillet of leaves and fruit of the olive tree, wearing two beaded necklaces with a rectangular central pendant, also wearing seven-petalled rosette earrings with beaded conical pendants, with extensive surviving polychrome, including black for the irises and red for the hair
