AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURED EYE-CUP
Attributed to the Group of Walters 48.42, Circa 510-500 B.C.
Each side with Dionysos, a goddess or maenad, and Hermes standing between large white eyes, the trio side-by-side and overlapping, each in profile to the right with Dionysos nearest, clad in a chiton and a striped mantle, a fillet of leaves in his hair, holding his kantharos in his left hand (on one side only), Hermes wearing petasos and winged boots, with vines in the field, vines and grapes around the handles, and rays, black alternating with outlined, above the foot, gorgoneion in the tondo, details in added red and white
