A GREEK TERRACOTTA GROUP
Late Hellenistic, Circa 1st Century B.C.
Perhaps from Myrina, depicting Hermes, Aphrodite and Eros standing on a high plinth, Hermes with a mantle draped over his shoulders, a thick wreath in his hair, the ties on his shoulders, the wreath overlapped by the wings in his short hair, a money-bag in his lowered right hand, his left arm draped over Aphrodite's shoulders, a mantle draped over her right shoulder and wrapped around her left leg, holding its edge in her left hand, her center-parted hair piled high, with tendrils falling on each shoulder, the diminutive winged Eros holding a shell in his hands, a workshop signature on the reverse
