A BYZANTINE BRONZE POLYCANDELON
Circa 5th-7th Century A.D.
With a large openwork concentric circle hanging from a smaller openwork circle, the larger framing eight rings for insertion of lamps, with a rosette in the center, and three loops along the outer circle for attachment of the chains, two of the chains incorporating a Latin cross within a circle, the third chain with an open cross, the chains hanging from three loops on the smaller circle above, which has four shorter chains above suspended from a single ring joined to a large suspension hook
