Lot Essay

This pen was created in 2000 to celebrate Charlemagne. He was king of the Franks and a Roman emperor uniting large parts of Europe under his political and cultural leadership. He himself chose the epithet "the Great" and it came to symbolise the scope and magnitude of his works.
