Made for Antonio de Albuquerque Coelho de Carvalho (1655-1725), fidalgo of the Royal Household, Governor of Maranhao and of Angola. Similar services were ordered by his two illegitimate sons, leading figures in early 19th century Macao. See N. de Castro, op. cit., p. 47
