Of cartouche outline, the centre painted with flowers and foliage, with gilt heightened foliate motifs to the cavetto surround, the reverse stamped JENNENS & BETTRIDGE'S LONDON BIRM.M -- 31 3/8in. (79.7cm.) wide

Lot Essay

The Birmingham firm of Jennens and Bettridge was established in 1816. By 1851 when the company exhibited at the Great Exhibition they were generally recognised as being the leaders of their field.
