AN AKKADIAN GREEN SERPENTINE CYLINDER SEAL
Circa 2334-2154 B.C.
Robustly carved and well-detailed with a mythological scene framed by two pairs of wrestlers, in the center a bearded god with the captured bird-man Anzu (who will be brought before Enki/Ea for the crime of stealing the Tablets of Destiny), the god in a horned tiara and short kilt, with long beard and hair flowing on to his shoulders, holding up a mace in his right hand and gripping the bound hands of the bird-man in his left, the Anzu with a bearded human head and torso joined to a bird's body, his hair tied in a bun, the wrestlers all bearded nude males with bald pates, the pair to the right standing erect with one hand over the other's shoulders, gripping the other's ankle, the figure to the right gripping the other's wrist with his left hand, the pair to the left with their bodies crossed, both gripping the other's ankle with one hand and extending an arm over the other's shoulder, both gripping a dagger, the terminal a two-line inscription naming the owner, "Aba-Enlil, brother of Shu-Shulak"
