A SUMERIAN BLACK SERPENTINE CYLINDER SEAL
Third Dynasty of Ur, Circa 2112-2004 B.C.
Depicting a presentation scene with a goddess seated on an angular stool to the right, wearing a horned tiara and a long flounced robe, her right hand raised, a Lama goddess before her in a horned tiara and a long creased robe, one hand raised, the other hand holding the wrist of a worshipper behind her, the worshipper bare-headed, wearing a long fringed robe, with one hand raised, a heraldic eagle between the figures on the left, a combined lunar crescent and solar disk in the sky, the terminal a four-line inscription in Sumerian cuneiform, deliberately erased but still readable, naming the owner "Ur-nigingar, scribe, son of Ur-Ninsun, overseer of the ..."
