Lot Essay

The present drawing is thought to be a sketch depicting St Cecilia for the 1889 painting Ahasver, based on Stefan Heim's novel. The picture is described in Kunstlexicon, Leipzig, 1924, as showing 'gewissen präraffaelitischen' touches.
