Lot Essay

The Eameses designed several furniture models for children around 1945, including chairs, tables and stools. The stools exhibit a compound curve molded into the legs which served to provide added strength and support. Examples of the children's furniture were included in a press preview at the Barclay Hotel in New York City in 1945, as well as at the Architectural League and The Museum of Modern Art, New York, the following year. They were offered at various stores for a somewhat short time but production stopped circa 1947 as the line was difficult to sell.
