A fine French nickel-pated surveyor's level,
signed on the bubble level A. Berthilemy à Paris, the level with finely adjustable prismatic viewers and engraved 1 and 2 on either end, to correspond to similar figures on the 15-inch (38.1cm.) long telescope, with rack and pinion eye-piece focusing, with secondary telescopic and prismatic attachment, the T-shaped support stamped 3774, raised on the ungraduated circular horizontal plate with tangent screw fine adjustment and tripod base with three adjustable screw feet and threaded hole for tripod or staff mounting, contained in the original fitted mahogany case, with objective lens extension shade and white-painted metal shade to fit on top of the bubble level, with ebonised carrying handle and two hooks, the top and front each with a brass plaque engraved I.G.N. NIVEAUE BETHELEMY No: 3774 -- 16¾in. (42.5cm.) wide
