Lot Essay

Isidore Jules Bonheur gained a wide and prolific reputation as an animalier sculptor during the second half of the 19th century. His models were often inspired and complimented his sisters work, Rosa, who created a series of animal studies after a visit to the Scottish highlands in 1856.
