AN AMBOYNA, EBONY AND IVORY INLAID AND MOUNTED CENTRE TABLE, LATE 19TH CENTURY AND EARLIER
The rectangular top composed from an early 17th century German backgammon board comprising two fruitwood and ivory marquetry panels with engraved figures of soldiers, musicians and obelisks within a border of hunting animals (defective), and carved stylised foliate surround, the frieze with cabochon ornament and pendants on standard end supports with similar cabochon ornament and finials terminating in scroll feet, pieces missing
35in. (89cm.) wide, 18½in. (47cm.) deep, in. (24cm.) high
