Lot Essay

Britannia is the personification of Britain. Amongst those countries represented in our picture are America, Canada, India, Japan and France. 1920 was the year that the League of Nations was formed but it was a turbulent one for Britain with troubles in Ireland and India. The international situation no doubt informed the genesis of this composition.
