Lot Essay

Mermond Freres, founded in 1816 and for many years one of Switzerland's premier maker's of cylinder boxes, entered the disc musical box field in the 1890s. The principal product was the Stella, a musical box which used discs without projections which were acted upon by spring loaded star wheels
