Maker's mark of William Drummond & Co., London 1930
The cup based on the Warwick vase, on a square base and circular foot, the campana shaped body applied with classical masks and torches on a lion's pelt above acanthus leaves, two intertwined branch handles, beaded and egg and dart border, domed cover with band of acanthus leaves and bud finial, the body engraved 'Lindsay Cup 1931. Won by Lady Kentrel', raised on a wooden plinth

Lot Essay

The Lindsay Cup was donated by Mr Lindsay, a grazier from the Western district and presented by him to the Warnambool Racing Club in 1931. The winner, Lady Kentrel, was a three year old filly who had run third in the VRC Oaks of the same year
