12° in half sheets (one or two lower margins soiled), contemporary calf, 19th-century crest on upper cover, panelled spine with red morocco lettering-piece, red speckled edges. Provenance: Coronet with monogram "HST" (crest on binding); William Arthur, 6th Duke of Portland (armorial bookplate).
UNRECORDED IN ESTC. Includes a long poem Esther in three books, various odes, an elegy on "Lunardi's Balloon," and two other meditative poems entitled "A Morning Contemplation" and "A Winter Evening." John Wilson had published Burns's Poems, chiefly in the Scottish Dialect the previous year.
