FIRST EDITION of Beccaria's first book which made him the leading champion of Franklin's new theory of electricity. He modified some aspects of Franklin's theory, devised new experiments and applied it to new areas. "... the book is notable for Beccaria's love of system ... and for his skill in designing apparatus, including such measuring devices as the electrical thermometer, whose invention is usually wrongly ascribed to Franklin's colleague Ebenezer Kinnersley" (DSB).
