The Anglo-Greek Ionides family were prominent patrons and supporters of artists of the Aesthetic Movement -- notably Rossetti, Whistler and Burne-Jones. George Frederick Watts painted no fewer than five generations of the family. Constantine Ionides formed the famous collection of paintings and drawings now in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Lady Burne-Jones recalled that Aglaia Ionides (Mrs Coronio) helped her husband in finding fabrics and arranging dresses for his models. Aglaia's brother, Alexander, created one of the great 'aethetic' houses of the day at 1 Holland Park with the help of Philip Webb and William Morris.
