A FINE ENGLISH BOWIE KNIFE, MID-1850S
Long spear-point blade with 4 inch false edge, etched with patriotic motto THE AMERICAN'S PRIDE EQUAL RIGHTS EQUAL LAWS/AND JUSTICE FOR ALL (motto mostly very faint), marked at ricasso with five-pointed star surrounded by US, silver plated brass cross guard with ball quillons, silver ferrule, ivory grip carved with the figure of Liberty with American Shield, brown leather sheath with decorations, brass throat, and hanger
9 7/8 inch (25.1 cm.) blade
