A SCARCE NEW-YORK ENGRAVED .45 COLT MODEL 1878 FRONTIER REVOLVER, NO. 15297 FOR 1885
Extensively engraved with bold scroll work on a granular ground on barrel, ejector housing, frame, cylinder, the barrel additionally enhanced with intertwining lines, cylinder, hammer and ejector housing with gold-washed finish, mother-of-pearl grips (vintage replacements), lanyard ring
7½ inch (19 cm.) barrel
Barrel and frame with cleaned appearance showing no traces of nickel plating, cylinder, hammer and ejector housing with good traces of gold-wash finish, replaced grips as noted.
According to Colt Factory letter of March 15, 2001, this Model 1878 was hsipped to Hartley & Graham of New York, on April 25, 1885.
