A VERY FINE .50 (12.7MM) PERCUSSION RIFLE BY KARL PIRKO IN WEIN, CIRCA 1860
Sighted swamped octagonal barrel with inlays of gold at fore-sight, hooked breech inlaid with the seated figure of a goddess in armour, pierced platinum vent, scroll engraved lockplate with maker's name inlaid in gold, the figured walnut fullstock, with horn fore-end tip, checkered panels with borders of relief carved foliage, deeply under-cut cheekpiece with fine relief carved floral finial, mounted with gilt-bronze (ormuli) ramrod thimbles, trigger guard, counterplate, and butt plate, all decorated with florals, panoply-of-arms, and scenes of the chase, double set triggers (the fore-trigger broken)
