Lot Essay

Identified by Philip Pouncey as a study for the picture in the ceiling of the church of Santa Maria in Vado, Ferrara. Mona was a pupil of Giuseppe Mazzuoli, also from Ferrara, who also taught Tintoretto which would explain the initial confusion over the attribution.
