Lot Essay

From 1912 until 1913 Kuyten made, together with his colleague Djurre Duursma, several trips to Scandinavia. In Denmark he must have seen the well known Danish film actress Asta Nielsen, whom he portayed in 1912 and in 1913. The present lot was used for a lithography (cf.lit. W. Baars e.o., Harrie Kuyten, Amsterdam 1993, cat.no. 5 and cat.no. 132)
