The present drawing is related to a series of designs for sculpture executed by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo for the Villa Cordellina, datable to 1743. The series includes such figures as Leda, Hebe, Diana, Amphitrite and Ceres which Giovanni Domenico later copied. A Domenico copy, very close in handling to Andromeda, was exhibited at the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York, 1973, Drawings from the Collection of Lore and Rudolf Heinemann, no. 95, illustrated. Other sheets inspired by Giovanni Battista's work for the Villa Cordellina were in the Beauchamp Album sold at Christie's, 15 June 1965, lots 153-5, and illustrated in J. Byam Shaw, The Drawings of Domenico Tiepolo, London, 1962, no. 35.
