Lot Essay

A group of drawings by Plattemontagne was published by P. Rosenberg and N. Volle in La donation Baderou au musée de Rouen, Nicolas de Plattemontagne dessinateur, Etudes de la Revue du Louvre, 1980, pp. 46-53.
The artist was the son of the Antwerp marine painter Mathieu Plattenberg and the nephew of Jean Morin, one of Philippe de Champaigne's engravers. Plattemontagne studied painting in Champaigne's studio and entered the Académie in 1663.
