Lot Essay

Further plateaus, and centrepieces, from the Grocers' Company Service, by Garrard, 1842, were sold Sotheby's Belgravia, 28 July 1977, lot 477 and 478. They are now in the Al Tajir Collection and were exhibited Christie's London, Glory of the Goldsmith, 1989, nos. 171(i) and (ii). Robert Garrard became a freeman of the Grocers' Company in 1816 and was Master in 1853.
