The present work can be compared to the mountainous river landscape in the Musée royaux des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, Inv. no. 10832, and to a landscape with travellers, with Gebr. Douwes, Amsterdam, Pittura '77, 1977, no. 1 in which the figures are by Jan Brueghel I.

The reverse of the panel is incised with the panel-maker's mark 'HB'.
