Edward J. Raby, son of Edward Raby, the renowned flower modeller, worked at Royal Worcester from about 1870 to 1894. His studies of flowers were the source for many of the engravings used at the factory on ivory-ground wares (see lot 2). After leaving the factory he worked for Doultons until 1919.
