Probably Switzerland, late 19th Century
Of typical form, of white metal lined with gold, the sides with three oval lobed cartouches of pale blue enamel outlined with diamonds and set with pink and green floral enamel sprays set with diamonds, divided by panels of enamel grape vine in high relief on pink enamel ground, the vineleaves set with diamonds, covered in enamel and set with diamonds, minor losses to enamel

The last Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II (1876-1909) possessed many jewelled objects including a large collection of jewelled cigarette cases and zarfs such as these. Some of these are preserved in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. Others were dispersed at a sale in Paris in 1911.
