A Cantonese flaring hexagonal planter
19th century
with everted rim, painted and gilt with a continuous scene of ladies and gentlemen at leisure on the terrace of a pavilion and in a fenced garden of plantain, pine and rockwork, the rim densely decorated with butterflies amongst fruit and flower sprays -- 11in. (28cms) wide, (rim chipped).
