A related painting is in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle (Scarpa Sonino, op. cit., p. 138, no. 117, pp. 102-3, color pl. XXXI) and a related gouache is in a London private collection (ibid., p. 146, no. 20, p. 317, fig. 284). These show the same fortified farm which is also shown in drawings in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York, and at Windsor Castle (ibid., pp. 275 and 316, figs. 191 and 282).
This picture is sold with a certificate dated August 12, 1954, by Professor Antonio Morassi, who describes it as an 'opera originale, bellissima, di mano di Marco Ricci'.
