TWO SANTA CLARA POLYCHROME JARS
the first, of globular form with short, slightly flaring neck and thick walls, finely painted in tan, orange, gray, and green on a dark orange slip, decorated with a wide band enclosing four arched panels with alternating fields of stylized avanyu and bird motifs, surmounted by a band of geometrical elements; the second, of similar, but smaller form, finely painted in tan, orange, black and green on an orange slip, decorated with a wide band of alternating yei figures separated by stepped geometrical elements, both signed on the base, Margaret/Luther, Santa Clara Pueblo
