carved of alder (?) wood and sewn to a cedar base, of convex rectangular form, kerfed and seamed along one corner, the sides decorated with fine, shallow carving of totemic creatures indicated by conventional form line elements, top rim inlaid with operculum, aged and resinous patina overall, bottom with red painted inscription, 543
