AN ARCHAISTIC MALACHITE EWER
Qing Dynasty, 19th Century
The malachite well-carved in the form of an archaic bronze jia ritual vessel, but standing on a high foot, rather than three legs as the original bronze, a large handle to one side surmounted by an animal mask, also smaller handles, two posts rising from the rim topped by conical finials, the whole carved with archaistic designs, and with minor bands of small bosses.
