AU BON CLIMAT

As an unashamed lover of wines from Burgundy, Jim Clendenen, owner and winemaker, shows continued passion and commitment to producing wines in the Burgundian styles. The "Nuits-Blanches" Chardonnay is made in a style inspired by the Chardonnays of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. It is vinified in "200 new oak", a technique used by Dominique Laurent involving the racking of the wine after fermentation in barrel, into a second new barrel for aging. The "Isabelle," a Pinot Noir cuvee, is made from Clendenen's finest barrels and is named after his daughter. "Hildegarde" is a blend of Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Aligoté. The wine is inspired by the legend of Hildegarde, wife of the emperor Charlemagne, who is said to have tired of red wine stains in her household, and ordered that a section of the Charlemagne vineyard be replanted to white grapes. Knox Alexander, named after Clendenen's son, is Pinot Noir derived from newly planted "state of the art" blocks in the Bien Nacido Vineyard.
