SKEWIS
Hank Skewis, winemaker for Mill Creek, started his own label in 1994 by producing Sonoma County Pinot Noir. Now producing Pinot Noirs from Russian River and Alexander Valleys this is definitely a winery to watch. Robert Parker recently remarked that the 1998 Montgomery Vineyard Pinot Noir offered below "...could easily have emerged from Morey-St-Denis or Gevrey-Chambertin given its meaty, powerful, plum-scented, spicy, complex aromatics." And similarly noted that the 1998 Floodgate Vineyard Pinot Noir "...tastes like a top flight Grand Cru Richebourg..." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, Issue 132, 12/23/00
