"The 1997 Proprietary Red flirts with perfection. The blend was modified slightly, and the bottled wine is composed of 72 Cabernet Sauvignon, 17 Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. The production was approximately 3,300 cases. Tipping the scales at 14.7 alcohol, this monster boasts an opaque blue/purple color as well as fabulous aromatics of black berries, cassis liqueur espresso, mocha, and toasted oak. Full-bodied, with mouthfilling levels of glycerin and richness, this multilayered, compelling effort is already delicious, but should age gracefully for 20-25 years.
